The short version
Naru is a focus timer. Your tasks and focus sessions live on your device. We don't run ads and we don't sell your data. The only thing Naru sends off your device is the minimum needed to keep the live timer running on your Lock Screen — never your task names or anything that identifies you.
What we collect
To keep it plain, here is everything Naru collects. Each item is explained further below.
- Purchase data. When you subscribe, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier, your purchase history for this app, and your country of purchase, so Naru Pro unlocks across your devices and reinstalls.
- A push token and session timing. If you use the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island timer, an anonymous device token from Apple, along with your session's start and end times and generic labels like “Focus” and “Break,” is sent to our server to keep the timer moving while your phone is locked.
- Your email and message. Only if you choose to email us for support.
- Basic website logs. When you visit narufocus.com, our hosting provider records standard technical details such as your IP address and browser type.
That's the complete list. Everything else — your tasks, focus history, streaks, settings, and daily goals — stays on your device and is never collected. None of what we do collect identifies you personally, and we never sell or share it or use it for advertising.
Data stored on your device
Your tasks, focus sessions, streaks, settings, and daily goals are stored locally on your iPhone. Naru has no account system — you never sign in, and this personal data, including your task names, stays on your device. Deleting the app deletes it.
Live Activities & the Dynamic Island
When a timer is running, Naru can show a live countdown on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island that keeps up with your breaks and sessions even while your phone is locked. To move the timer along while the app is closed, Naru sends a push token — an anonymous device identifier provided by Apple — and the session's schedule (start and end times and generic labels such as “Focus” and “Break”) to our own server at api.narufocus.com, which relays timed updates through Apple's Push Notification service. This never includes your task names or anything that identifies you, is used only to update the timer display, is never used for tracking or advertising, and is deleted once the session ends. If you don't use Live Activities, none of this is sent.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple account. To unlock Naru Pro across your devices and reinstalls, we use RevenueCat to validate purchases. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier, your purchase history for this app, and your country of purchase. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple and are never visible to us.
Notifications
Session-end alerts and task reminders are local notifications, scheduled and delivered on your device. Enabling them is optional and controlled in Settings.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to respond to you and help with your request, and we keep it just long enough to do that. We don't add you to any mailing list, and we never sell or share it. You're in control of what you tell us — please don't include sensitive information you don't need to.
Cookies & this website
The Naru website (narufocus.com) uses no cookies, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking — there's nothing to consent to and no banner to click through. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of each request, to serve the pages, keep the site secure, and fix problems. We don't use these logs to identify or track you.
Your choices
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings.
- Revoke notification permission anytime in iOS Settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
